  • Where are your tents situated?
    We are located at High House Farm near the beautiful Northumbrian village of Matfen. High House Farm is a 150 acre working farm, set right on Hadrian's Wall. The historic town of Corbridge; with it's beautiful, independent shops, quaint tea rooms, traditional pubs and long riverside walks is just 5 miles away. The gorgeous market town of Hexham is just a 20 minute drive away. In less than an hour, you could be in the wild Northumberland National Park, magical Kielder Forest, the stunning Scottish Borders, enchanting Alnwick Castle and Gardens and our best kept secret - the incredible beaches of Northumberland, dotted with castles and wildlife.
  • What is your minimum stay?
    We offer 1 night stays Sunday - Thursday. On Fridays, Saturdays and Northumberland school holidays we have a 2 night minimum stay unless we have last minute gaps where will advertise a special 1 night offer.
  • What should I pack for my glamping stay?
    Please do check the 'What we Provide' question to help you decide what to pack. Here is our suggested list of items to add to your usual packing for a comfortable stay: - Clothing for all weathers! Please remember that mornings / evenings can be very cool, even in summer. Layers and waterproofs can be extremely useful, along with a bag to put any wet / muddy clothes in - Personal toiletries - Towels - Wellies or walking boots - A torch - An umbrella - Charcoal / firelighters / lighter if you will be using your BBQ - Wood / kindling / lighter for your firepit - Ice or ice packs for your cool box - A rechargeable or solar charger for emergency phone / tablet charging! - A small camping stove (outdoor use only) if you plan on cooking during your stay - A really good book - Playing cards and games* - Slippers for inside to help you stay comfortable and help us keep things clean - A sense of adventure and a love of the outdoors!
  • Are campfires allowed?
    We provide a firepit for each Bell so you can enjoy your evenings in the lovely outdoors and you can order a campfire set from us packed full of firelighters, kindling and wood. Your firepit should be kept a minimum of 2 metres from your Bell when lit.
  • Can my dog come?
    Our Bells are for all the family and well behaved dogs are welcome at High House Farm. Your furry friend must be kept on a lead around any animals on the farm. We ask that they are not allowed on any furniture and that they are dried before entering the tent.
  • What's included in our Bell Tent hire?
    Our aim is to provide you with a Glamping experience without any of the hassle or huge kit list normally associated with these kinds of stay! Your beautiful Bell comes complete with a real double bed, cosy bed linen, fluffy rugs, warm blankets, twinkly lights and gorgeous outdoor furniture for sitting out under the stars. A stove effect heater provides your heating and you have a cool box to keep your food and drinks cold. Your Bell has a BBQ and a firepit for evenings under the stars. If you want to check if anything in particular is available, please don't hesitate to contact us.
  • What are your check in and out times?
    Our general rule is that we will have your Bell ready for you at 3pm on your arrival day. You can check out any time until 10am on your day of departure. We may be able to be flexible with these times; please ask us if an early check in or late check out is available for you.
  • Can I pay a deposit for my booking?
    Of course! Our booking system takes a 50% deposit to secure your date. You will receive a request for your balance by email around 6 weeks before your arrival. Please note that your deposit is non-refundable. Please ensure you have adequate insurance to cover cancellation by yourselves.
  • What type of beds can we expect?
    We use 'proper' double beds with a frame and comfy mattress. There's no sleeping on the floor with Dark Sky Glamping! Our single beds are a mixture of folding foam beds which fold away as chairs during the day to give you extra seating and space and folding metal single beds which fold away under the double bed during the day.
  • What is expected of us during our stay?
    We have strict Terms and Conditions which you agree to when you make your booking with us. Our T's and C's are for the comfort and safety of yourselves and any other guests on site, along with the security of our equipment. It is vital that you read through our Terms and Conditions to ensure you know what is expected of you during your stay. As soon as you've done that, you can sit back, relax and simply look forward to your fabulous Glamping stay.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
    Please see our Cancellation Policy in our Terms and Conditions. In summary, if you cancel 60 days or less from the date of your arrival, we are unable to offer a refund unless we find an alternative booking for your dates (less a £50 admin fee). If you cancel 61 days or more before the date of your arrival, you will receive a full refund of any monies paid, less your non-refundable deposit.
  • Can I bring candles / tea lights?
    We absolutely do not allow naked flames of any description in our Bell Tents. This includes, but is not limited to; candles, tea lights, bbqs, gas heaters etc. Naked flames can constitute a very serious risk to life through fire and carbon monoxide poisoning and you will be asked to leave the site immediately if you are found to be using them inside your Dark Sky Glamping Bell Tent. No refund will be given in these circumstances.
  • What if bad weather is forecast during our stay?
    We will only postpone your booking if we feel there is a danger to your safety during your stay; for example in extremely high winds. We do not take decisions like these lightly, but we will always put your safety first. Otherwise, please pack clothing and any extras according to the forecast so you're well prepared for anything the great British weather throws at you! If you find you weren't as prepared as you would have liked during your stay, please let us know so we can try to help.
  • If the weather is bad / cold and we leave early, can we get a refund?"
    Unfortunately, as the weather is out of our control, we are unable to offer refunds in this case. Please check the forecast before your stay and bring appropriate kit / clothing. If during your stay you are cold, please let us know in case we are able to help.
  • Can we bring a travel cot for our little one?
    Of course! Our beautiful 5m Bells are bright and spacious and can accommodate up to 5 guests.
  • What if we have a complaint during our stay?
    Guest satisfaction is our number one priority so we sincerely hope you never have cause to complain. However, things do happen and you can be assured that we will always do our very best to help if you are less than happy with any aspect of your stay. Please let us know about any issues immediately and we will attempt to resolve matters as quickly as possible. Unfortunately we are unable to deal with complaints brought to our attention once you have left the site so please let us know straight away.
  • Are you insured?
    Yes, we are fully insured with £2m of Public Liability insurance.
